Winter Is Here

Every Sunday, I visit my parents from out of town. When I left last night, it was snowing slightly. It was the first snowfall of the season, and it was almost magical watching it fall.

This morning, I woke up to this. I'm not particularly looking forward to the drive to work, but I have to admit, the trees look beautiful capped in white like that.

Seeing them covered in snow like this makes me think of a visit to Leavenworth, Washington several years ago. I think I was still a teen at the time (I'm in my mid-20's now),  and it was right around this time of year. It's a tourist trap, so it's made to attract people, and that it did. The buildings had sort of a gingerbread cottage look to them, and you could see mountains in the distance. All this with a layer of snow made me feel like I was walking in a fairytale.

As much as I'm going to gripe about winter and its snow and ice and cold later, it's still early enough that I'm looking forward to what it has to offer. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas shopping and music, New Year's Eve...and best of all, at the end of it comes spring.

Wishing you all a happy winter, and a happy Thanksgiving!
